Who would have thought! Yesterday (December 22) Mia has given birth to 6 kittens! It is a special litter of kittens. Many poly and more males than females I think. But I have to look again. Because of some kittens it is obvious what their gender is and others not. Also they seem so very similar .... Hard ... I have to go 'brand' them with nail polish. Pictures of the kittens individually will follow as soon as I can keep them apart ;-). Of course I also keep a weight list, but this will follow also. For now I'm glad that everything is going ok and all the kittens and Mia are doing well for now.
Mia

Just a few more days and Mia and Macy will be due. Mia is so enormously fat! I'm afraid she bears many kittens. A bit sad since this is her first litter. But I will be there for my ladies. Where I can, I help them of course. Macy is big too, but fortunately not as big as Mia is right now. So I expect just a few kittens from Macy. Hopefully I am right about Macy and wrong about Mia;-). Since I had hoped to have small litters. Here is a picture of Macy and one of Mia which I have taken today. Still 2 weeks to go ... ..

I am so nervous…. Besides Maya, Macy and Mia are pregnant too. This time it’s very obvious. Their nipples are big and pink. I am so afraid that I can’t handle so many kittens! I tried and tried to get the females pregnant, but every time it failed. So I was sure that one or more of my female cats couldn’t get pregnant (anymore). Never thought that this time they all got pregnant at once. So it will be very busy these coming months. I hope I can handle it, since I have a fulltime job. Of course I am happy that they are fertile, but I am scarred that it will be too much to handle…. So I keep my fingers crossed that they all will have a small litter. But the most important thing is that everything goes well and that they are healthy.

Mia
Major
24 October 2009
I have some good news. Both Macy and Mia have been bred by Major. This time I am sure that it worked since I watched them closely. I bring the ladies 1 by 1 to Major - and after they succeeded - I bring the ladies downstairs. I had them bred 3 times each since I don’t want two big litters. Both ladies didn’t got pregnant after several times of trying. So I needed to be sure if they are (still) fertile. If everything goes well, than Macy expects kitten (s) around December 23rd and Mia will be due around December 25th. So we might have Christmas kittens! And that could be a problem also.... Since we always celebrate Christmas with Gerrit his parents. So I don’t know if I can join them this year. But if I can’t, I need to think of something to make it up to them. Mia and Macy have been friends from Day 1. So this is very well planned. They will be able to take care of both their kittens. When Mia came to live with us, Macy still had kittens. Mia thought that Macy was her mother and even drank milk from Macy for a long time. Maybe she still sees Macy as her mother, since they are still very close.
